The new law regulating cash use - what do we need to know?

As published in The Malta Independent newspapers on the 10/08/2020, we learned that the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU) has said that they are working on finalising new law regulating the use of cash in some sectors to be in coming months.

"A new law to regulate the use of cash in specific sectors of the economy is to set to finalised in the coming months, the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU) has said.

In a document detailing its achievements during January and July, the FIAU notes that 2020 saw significant changes to strengthen Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) practices in Malta and to improve local legislation in-line with the highest international standards and practices."
